Dark circles under the eyelids are common in both men and women.
What are the causes for dark circle?
Although fatigue seems to be the foremost logical explanation for this condition, there are several causes that may cause dark circles under the eyes. In most cases, they are not a cause for concern and do not need any medical help.
Some known causes for dark circles
1) Lack of sleep (or) less hours of sleep
2) Over looking of phones, and computers
3) Allergies, including allergic rhinitis (Hay fever)
4) Hyper-pigmentation, which occurs when our body produces more melanin than we require
5) Less fatty tissues around the eye
6) Iron deficiency (Anemia)
7) over exposure to sun light
8) frequent scratching or rubbing of the eye
9) Ageing, smoking, dermatitis, Genes etc..,
How to reduce dark circles -- Home Remedies
There are several natural and medically prescribed methods that people use to reduce or get rid of dark circles. Although these aren't permanent solutions, with daily following and consistency below methods facilitate us to reduce the appearance of dark circles.

Elevation
When you sleep, place one additional pillow below your head to reduce the puffiness of fluid pooling in your lower eyelids this might help reduce dark circles and swelling around the eyes.
Cold Compress
Some times Dilated blood vessels darken the area under the eyes. By using ice cubes or ice pack cold compress we can compress those vessels to normal situation. Which may result in reduction of dark circles formation.
Eye Strain
Staring at television or computer screen while work for longer will cause strain on our eyes. Due to this blood vessels around our eyes enlarge, and the skin around the eyes looks dark. So give some rest to your eyes for some time while you work (or) watch your favourite shows in TV or Laptop.
Tea Bags
Try tea bags on your eye this might facilitate to cut back (help to reduce) the dark circles and Swelling.

Cucumber is known for its cooling property. Take two slices of cucumber and place them on eyes for 10 min, after that clean eyes with cold water. Do this for few days daily in the morning and evening.

Tamarind
The presence of citric acid in tamarind is not only good for health but also as a cosmetic for the skin. Apply tamarind juice on the face and wash off with cold water after a while to brighten the skin.
Apart from these, experts say that adding certain foods to their daily diet can reduce dark circles. They are
Tomato, Cucumber, Water melon, Black Grapes, Nuts, Orange, Beet root, Papaya, Greens.
Peanut butter-Honey
Add a tablespoon of peanut butter and a tablespoon of honey. It should be applied under the eyes and rinsed off after 30 minutes. Even Honey can be massaged under the eyes for 30 minutes every day.
